Hannah Brunner, Daughter/Inspiration
Hi! My name is Hannah
Brunner. I am the only child of Dean and Kimberly Brunner. I was born in
September of 2000 at Presbyterian Hospital of Plano, in Plano, Texas. Since
Mommy and Daddy are both Chefs, I do have a fairly well developed taste for
different foods. I understand that Mommy had lots of exotic cravings when she
was expecting me, and that, she claims, helped me start off right. When I was
seven days old, Daddy took Mommy and me out for my first visit to a Japanese
restaurant for sushi. It was called: Mr. Sushi, and it's in Dallas. While other
babies start off eating really bland stuff like applesauce and rice cereal, I
got fresh puréed Mango and Barley cereal. Other than
prunes, I didn't get much in the way of store bought baby food. Today, I can
usually eat about $40 worth of sushi by myself if allowed...Mostly tuna and
salmon. I eat duck, quail legs, fish of all kinds (but mostly not fried), lots
of steak meat, broccoli, asparagus, and lots of salad. Fruit is pretty good too.
I prefer bananas and strawberries. I like it fresh, in smoothies, and just about
every other way I can get it. I lean heavily on strawberries though...it helps
keep my hair red. What do I not care for in the way of food? Well, I have not
developed a taste for avocados, big pieces of raw onions, green bell peppers,
and definitely not Bread & Butter Pickles or Pickles with Spicy Peppers
mixed in.
This year I started
Kindergarten and I attend Ambleside School of Fredericksburg, a Charlotte Mason
School. There are thirteen children in my class including me, presently. My
favorite subject is nature study. I like painting the specimens in watercolor. I
also really like vocal studies. I believe everyone deserves to have a home
where they can feel safe and have clean water to drink. I regularly save my
coins I harvest from the kitchen counter at home to donate to Habitat for
Humanity and Lutheran World Relief. When I am not in school, I spend my time
with my friends, ride my bike, jump on my trampoline, play Polly Pockets, and My
little Ponies. I also dance. I take lessons at Ms. Rhonda's School of Dance here
in town. There is ballet, jazz, and tap to keep me busy. I like my competition
classes because it's always challenging me to learn more and have perfect
execution. My team and I have won some medals. It's fun. I get to wear make-up.
Our dance studio puts on a version of The Nutcracker at the Weihnachten in
Fredericksburg the first weekend in December. It is a Christmas Festival and
Market that is kicked off on Friday night by the Lighted Christmas Parade after
dark. I have been in it for two years now. The first year I was a mouse, and the
second I got to be an angel.
What I really enjoy is
helping at the restaurant. I really like cooking with Mommy and Daddy, but I
have also helped take the food to the tables, and greet guests in the dinning
room. I love being as much part of what Mom and Dad do as I can. If you visit
Hannah's on Main, for breakfast or lunch, you may see my influence in the menu.
Regular menu or kid's menu, I've had influence everywhere. We have the
healthiest kid's menu in town...I think. We aren't big on sodas in our family,
and though our restaurant has sodas, we also have all kinds of juice, milk, and
can often make a fruit and yogurt smoothie of some kind. The waiters may have
forgot to inform you, but Dad can even make regular menu items kid's portion
size for kids who may want something like the
Vietnamese Caramelized Pork. Normally the
Soup and a Half Sandwich is a good kid's choice too. So, as you can
see, kids are welcome to come eat at Hannah's on Main.
I do have a few rules
I need to follow, though. Number One,
dinner at Hannah's is a very nice dinning experience. Dinner will take
between an hour and a half to two hours. Make sure big people and little people
are all in understanding about that and maybe pack a quite activity bag.
Number Two, bring your inside voice
and remember to use it. Number Three,
pack your best big kid manners and practice them lots.
Major Pointer: expect to sit in the
café or in the patio in nice weather. There is a private
dinning room off of the patio, Mommy has decorated it very prettily and has
soothing music playing for our guests. We set that for over-flow dinning at
night. Mommy normally seats families out there or in the patio in nice weather
because it is close by the bathroom and she has other clean-up stuff close by in
case of emergencies. Mommy also has a good supply of coloring books and crayons
if you forget to pack your own. Just ask Mommy or your server.
Hope you enjoy your experience at Hannah's
Let Peace be on Earth-
Hannah B.
